Long-time friends and devoted music collectors since their teens, CSGRV and Demacque have built a deep connection through a shared love of soulful, rhythmic music with real feeling. Both have a profound fascination with music that makes you move and brings those good vibes, no matter the setting — whether at a warehouse, club, or house party.

Pulling influences from a wide diaspora of sounds, their sets traverse anything from MPB, samba funk, disco, jazz, Afro-highlife, Latin, 90s hip-hop, deep house, and techno. Uncovering hidden gems you might not know but will instantly love, they craft eclectic sets that keep you moving and broaden your musical horizons.

Previously the programmer and resident DJ for Village Underground's in-house event series Superstition, CSGRV now leads the programming at Grow, continuing to bring cutting-edge music and unforgettable nights to the scene.

“January is usually a time for relaxing on the sofa, and hiding away from the world after exhausting your money and social energy during the busy festive period. But now it's time to recharge, get out, have some fun, and create new memories for 2025. It's important to get moving, see friends, and bring some light into the darkest and hardest month of the year. Come and join us on the dancefloor for good vibes, boosting your endorphins while shaking a leg with old and new friends.” CSGRV & DEMACQUE

SPECULATIVE REMEMORY // AUDIO & VISUAL // DJS

Join us at Grow for an evening exploring experimental project - Speculative ReMemory - which includes audio and visual work made as part of an engagement project at Alice Billing House in Stratford.

These cumulative creative contributions have emerged from a network of artists and local communities, and draws upon non-traditional methodologies, indigenous practices of storytelling and the collation of stories to create a body of work that utilises experimental formats of archival and artistic outcomes. Rooted in feminist and anti-colonial epistemologies, the intention has been to unearth the rhizomatic connective tissues between past, present and future.

Expect excerpts from the digital archive, physical representations and a chance to meet artists involved in the project.

The archive project is led by artist and programme facilitator, Sandra Falase, part of an engagement programme run by Grow Studios at Alice Billing House in Stratford, supported by the Creative Land Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund.

NOT THE USUAL JAM SESSION // OPEN JAM

A unique musical experience that breaks the mould. David (The Orbalist, Hackney Rhythm) hosts a jam that is accessible for everyone—no more pay-to-play, no more rehearsed sets. A space where synths, sequencers, MPCs, and E-drums harmonise with guitars, basses, keys, and acoustic drums.

When Alessandro Corda and David met at the jam, they immediately realised they shared the same passion for music and had similar values. Alex, a versatile musician, DJ, and producer, and a regular at London’s jams and host of a couple, offered to work closely with David. Not only did he manage the stage, but he also contributed behind the scenes, taking the jam to the next level.

Join us on the first Sunday of each month. Admission is free and safe and welcoming to the newcomer or seasoned performer. Whether you’re a keyboard virtuoso, a beatmaker, or a storyteller with a voice, this jam is for you. Bring your passion and your open mind. Let’s create music that transcends the ordinary and be part of the Not The Usual Jam and Grow musical community.

Our stage has hosted the tentative strumming of novice guitarists, the mesmerising loops of experienced producers, and the raw vocals of singers discovering their voices. From Charlie Stacey to Qoha or George The Poet, our stage has welcomed talented artists from various disciplines, including regulars: Alex Mike The Mic, Freddie Mpanga, Nico (MoorMoor), Conor Larkin, Matt Duduryn, Tom Caton, Richard Castle, Simon (Koyoka), and many others who come together to share their music experience, celebrate their progress, enhance growth, and enjoy each other - keeping eclecticism our flagship. The NTUJ session is a sandbox for sonic exploration, where David conducts, orchestrates, and brings people together. Here, musical boundaries dissolve, genres intertwine, and magic is born. Bring your instruments, synths, drum machines, unconventional gear, and curiosity.

If you’d like to take part show up with your instrument, any questions that you may have, please send them to infohackneyrhythm@gmail.com

WAH WAH LIVE // ANUSHKA LIVE // POLLENA LIVE PA // DJ DES FRUTAS // DJ DOM SERVINI// JAZZ // DISCO // FUNK // SOUL

Wah Wah 45s returns to Grow for another freestyle, forward thinking soulful session with new signings to BBE Records, Anushka playing live, with support from rising star Pollena with DJ Des Frutas and resident, label boss and host Dom Servini.

Anushka is the collaborative name for Victoria Port and Max Wheeler. The duo first met in the vibrant club, music and arts scenes in that creativity incubating south coast town that is Brighton. With their first single, Yes Guess, gaining support from major broadcast influencers such as Gilles Peterson they released their debut album, Broken Circuit, in 2014. With major airplay support from Mary Anne Hobbs, Annie Mac, the aforementioned Gilles Peterson and others the second album Yemaya was released in 2021 - on this second record they experimented with their sound, exploring darker and more complex songs and palettes. Both albums forged Anushka's sound and production values, combining a deep respect for the UK's electronic club culture mixed with Jazz and Soul.

Now, with the upcoming release of Ancestry on BBE Music, the duo has created an album that furthers their sound, their songwriting, their arrangements and their production. Victoria's songwriting for Ancestry is influenced by her love of Ella Fitzgerald, Sampha, Jimmy Cliff and Georgia Anne Muldrow. Max's approach to the production on Ancestry is driven by his own ancestral back catalogue of music from Moodyman and Theo Parrish and further back to Larry Heard, Wu Tang Clan and the 90's electronica of Tricky, Portishead and David Holmes. It definitely bears repeating that list of influences has resulted in Ancestry being Anushka's best album yet.

Victoria also has a new solo EP coming out on First Word Records this year.

Pollena is an emerging London-based singer-songwriter on the Indie Dance scene. She's gained well over 1 million Spotify streams and 45k monthly listeners since releasing her debut single in 2021 ("The Pool" featured on BBC 6 Music by Lauren Laverne and beyond). Her solo live performances are known for an intimate energetic feel. She's backed with a hybrid DJ set (usually with one or two of her many collaborators) featuring live instrumentation and experimental vocals, and brought to life with original visuals and lighting.

Pollena has collaborated with global artists and released music through labels including Ninja Tune/Foreign Family Collective, Kitsuné Musique and Friends of Friends and her tracks frequently feature on editorial streaming playlists (Fresh Finds, New Music Friday & others) and in-store at H&M, Zara, and Mango. She garnered attention from leading tastemakers including Lauren Laverne, Sian Eleri, Giles Peterson, Jamz Supernova and Nemone. Her recent euphoric chill-house single "Repeat to Fade" with Bad Tuner, gained attention from The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music.

2025 is looking bright for Pollena with releases lined up with Laurence Guy, Gilligan Moss, El Train, and Max Wheeler the Brighton-based producer and one half of Anushka and collaborations in place with Sunflowr, Tell, Louis La Roche, Fabich, Bondax, Boston Bun, Anoraak, Love Tempo, Eric Luttrell, Dougie Stu (Brijean), Très Mortimer, Loverground and more.

With over ten years of mixing under his belt, Streatham-based DJ Des Frutas began his journey as part of the Gold Teeth collective, bringing his musical blend to clubs across the UK. Over that time, he’s supported the likes of Romare, Dam Swindle, Artwork and Horse Meat Disco, with festival sets at Parklife, Tramlines and Beacons Festival.

Each week, Des Frutas brings Worldwide Fruits to the Brixton Radio airwaves, featuring choice cuts from across the globe. Expect feel good sets filled with uplifting sun-drenched house and disco, Latin and African grooves and lesser-known tropical gems.

Dom Servini has been something of an institution in the worldwide eclectic scene for over three decades. As label boss at Wah Wah 45s for over 25 years, music journalist for seminal publications like Straight No Chaser and Echoes, and with a weekly radio show on Jazz FM, a monthly on Soho Radio and regular appearances on BBC 6 Music, Dom continues to be at the forefront of the left-of-centre black music scene. His uplifting DJ sets have taken him across the globe from Japan to Canada , from Montenegro to Australia, and right back here in London town where he was resident at The Jazz Café for over 30 years and is currently starting a new daytime event called Our Time Is Now!

Entry is free before 9 PM, Early Bird tickets are £5 and general admissions is £7. Pre-sale ticket entry is before 10 pm. Tickets on the door are £10 after 9 pm.

GIONATAN SCALI - MODERN MAN SINGLE LAUNCH // GRANFERGO // LAZY H // ROCK // PSYCHEDELIA // SPACE ROCK // PSYCH JAZZ

Join us at Grow, Hackney Wick, for a night of extraordinary live music as we celebrate the release of Gionatan Scali's latest single, "Modern Man." This special event showcases some of the most innovative and eclectic sounds emerging from East London and beyond.

Gionatan Scali - Modern Man Single Launch (LIVE)

Gionatan Scali is a multifaceted East London-based musician, writer, and visual artist originally from Turin, Italy. Leading a music ensemble that reflects his enigmatic persona, Gionatan weaves a rich tapestry of sound, blending jazzy and alternative rock melodies with psychedelic, lo-fi, and ambient influences. With two critically acclaimed LPs ("Ride On" and "A Prophet after his Turkish Bath") and notable singles like "Perfect Town" (2020) and "Ride On" (2022) under his belt, Gionatan's work has been praised for its ethereal, genre-defying style.

"Modern Man," his latest creation, promises to be another mesmerizing addition to his artistic journey. Available as a limited 7” vinyl with only 200 copies, this single marks a bold new chapter for the artist and his band. Don’t miss this chance to witness the unveiling of this compelling piece of work in a live setting.

Granfergo (LIVE)

Rooted in South American psychedelic cumbia, African funk, North American surf rock, and soul, Granfergo is a trio of brothers Euan and Adam Dean, joined by Joe Hayles-Cotton on drums. Their music is an earthy and cinematic blend of styles that transcend borders and eras. With soaring guitar melodies, rumbling bass riffs, and groove-driven percussion, Granfergo creates a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly original. Influenced by film soundtracks, sampled electronic music, and obscure musical gems, they offer a journey through sound that is as adventurous as it is captivating.

Lazy H (LIVE)

Lazy H, a producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, is renowned for his genre-defying approach to music. A fixture in the UK jazz scene, he has collaborated with the likes of Alabaster de Plume, Dance System, and Blessed Madonna, and has received accolades from Brownswood Records and Ninja Tune. His unique fusion of jazz, electronica, and experimental sounds has drawn comparisons to Floating Points and Dorian Concept, while earning praise for its originality and inventiveness. Lazy H’s performances are a masterclass in live improvisation, bridging the gap between the organic and the electronic.

Onde Ande (DJ)

Onde Anda is a SE London, 4-man collective who share a love for collecting records and connecting with people through music. You can expect to hear Brazilian fusion classics, 70s roots and dub, straight ahead jazz, highlife, funk, Italian disco and much more. TJT (ILLASOUL) // JOIN IN JAN // JAZZ // BROKENBEAT // REGGAE // HOUSE

It’s cold, it’s dark, and January's calling you to hibernate – but we’re here to brighten things up! With the New Year resolutions underway and the Christmas bills rolling in, we know it’s not always easy to get out and enjoy yourself.

That’s why, for the entire month, Grow is opening its doors for free, bringing you a stacked lineup of events to beat the winter slump. We’ve got cosy corners, heated and covered outdoor seating, DJs and live music, and an array of soft and non-alcoholic options for all our Dry Jan friends, so you can enjoy the party your way without breaking the bank. Make this January your time to get out, get social, and Join in Jan!

Tai, aka 'TJT', is a DJ and vinyl enthusiast born and raised in London. He’s the founder of Illasoul, a live jazz event and club night that brings together music lovers from across the city. We’re excited to have him back playing at Grow after an incredible warm-up at DeepDig last September warming up for the legendary Patrick Forge.

With a deep love for records and a knack for mixing different sounds, TJT brings something unique to every set he plays. His style is all about variety, keeping the vibe fresh and energy flowing with a blend of Jazz, Brokenbeat, UK Garage, Hip Hop, Reggae, House, and Jungle.

Whether he’s spinning at Illasoul or any other gig, you can always expect quality music, great energy, and a love for the culture that resonates through each record played.

“This January, you can expect an all-night-long journey that celebrates a very mixed bag of styles. I love mixing different sounds, so there’s hopefully going to be a bit of something for everyone. I try to create a vibe where, by the end of the night, you will feel like you have been through a clear start, middle, and end of something. January can be a tough month - New Year blues, cold weather, no money etc. - but getting out, dancing, and socializing reminds us we’re not as alone as we sometimes may think. Not only that, this night is free! So why not come out with your crew and start the year with some good tunes! “

Experience a world of flavours at Grow! We’re proud to partner with esteemed breweries, St Austell and Signature Brewery, to bring you an exceptional range of Draft Beers. But that’s not all - we also serve vibrant Organic Wines and Prosecco that are sure to delight your palate.

MOONTALK // JOIN IN JAN // DUB // ACID JAZZ // BROKEN BEAT // LEFTFIELD HOUSE // BASS //

Moontalk is an Istanbul born, London based DJ and radio host. Classically trained in piano, introduced to electronic music via trip hop and fascinated by Middle Eastern percussion, she carefully curates expansive sets through soulful earthly beats and alien basslines in equal measure. With an affinity towards risky genre combinations and bold mood shifts, her sets dance across a broad tempo range from downtempo, acid jazz, broken beat, Balearic house and left field techno to drum'n bass and breaks with frequent sprinkles of free jazz, dub, ambient, global grooves and drumworks. This summer she returned to Lost Village as a resident DJ and played at ION festival as part of My Analog Journal's takeover, marking her first international performance. She frequently plays across London venues such as Grow, NT's Loft, Night Tales and Corsica Studios. She is one of the resident DJs at Om Being, where she delves into deep and experimental ambient spectrums to create experiences of introspection and transcendence through moving meditation.

“I like to keep an open mind and look into the history and evolution of genres when I'm digging. When I curate I never stay in one mood for too long and always play with dichotomies: calm vs chaos, dark vs light, introspection vs euphoria, classic instrumentation over modular synthesis. An all night long set is an exciting opportunity for me to showcase all layers of my taste and truly delve into the journey building and storytelling aspects which I'm so passionate about and aim to bring to all my sets. We will embark on a cosmic and hedonistic sonic adventure together that will stimulate our minds as much as our bodies.

Don’t miss the chance to experience Daniele Mizar, a Sicilian DJ and Soho Radio resident, whose dynamic sets blend his Southern Italian roots with global influences. Known for his acclaimed show Isola Paradiso, a celebration of Italian music culture from dance-floor jazz to rare gems, Daniele captivates audiences with his passion for uncovering overlooked sounds. Whether championing emerging talent or curating nights with farcorners, his performances are electric, uplifting, and culturally rich—a must-see for music lovers seeking something unique and inspiring.

“This January, my all-night-long set will blend the soulful warmth of Sicily with the electrifying energy of jazz dance music. I understand that January can be tough - cold evenings, post-holiday blues, and the inertia of winter make it hard to get out and socialise. That’s exactly why these nights and Grow’s initiative are so important. It’s a chance to step out, shake off the frost, and immerse yourself in music that warms not just the body, but the soul. From the vibrant spirit of the Mediterranean to the jazz- inspired grooves, this set will create moments that invite you to move freely and joyfully - a celebration of life, connection, and movement. Let’s start the year dancing together, let the music lift you, the rhythm guide you.” Daniele

Let’s ring in 2024 together with amazing vibes, music, and good company. See you on the dance floor!

As we come to a close on 2024, a year during which we’ve celebrated 10 years of having our doors open, we’ve decided to do something special to mark the end of our 10th year. This New Year's Eve, we want to honour our homegrown talent and musical community. We are incredibly excited to present a Grow event featuring artists we consider family—those who have graced our stage and DJ booth throughout our decade of being open.

We’re thrilled to feature the amazing 8-piece band Tumbaito, led by the talented percussionist Williams Cumberbache, a beloved member of the Grow family. Known for their captivating performances, Tumbaito blends Afro-Latin rhythms with modern urban innovations, creating an electric atmosphere you won’t want to miss. Having collaborated with artists like Björk and Goldie, Williams and his band are set to deliver an exhilarating fusion of jazz and Latin grooves that will have you dancing all night long!

Opening the night and closing it down at 3 AM, we’re excited to welcome back Lukas Kuhn, Kid Dynamite, and Bruno Spadale, collectively known as Petra’s Dream. These Hackney Wick locals have been lighting up the Grow dancefloor with their high-energy events over the years. Seasoned party starters, they know exactly how to keep the dance floor alive until the very end. With crates packed full of deep cuts and their unique sound, they’ll take you on a musical journey like no other.

Expect to lose yourself in a night filled with cosmic synth, Afro vibrations, tropical funk, Brazilian fusion, South African bubblegum, and late-night boogie—it’ll be dancefloor heat until 3 AM! Petra’s Dream will deliver an unforgettable experience that keeps you moving all night long.

We’ll also be running our amazing happy hour deals with free entry between 6-8 PM. You’ll be able to purchase a ticket on-site before the event if you haven’t grabbed yours already on the day.

So bring your energy, dress to sweat, and prepare for a party that won’t quit. Let’s welcome the New Year together with joy, laughter, unforgettable memories, and pure good vibes.

THE DAD DISCO 8TH BIRTHDAY // FUNDRAISER // DISCO // FUNK // SOUL // HOUSE

Celebrate 8 years of The Dad Disco! Join us for a night of soul, disco, and funk as we raise essential funds for Weldmar Hospice, supporting their incredible care for Dorset’s community.

The Dad Disco was born 8 years ago to raise money for the Weldmar Hospice, a facility in Dorset which provides faultless end of life care and support for people with life limiting illnesses. The amazing staff there cared for both my dad and then step dad in their final days, and after dad passed, we decided to throw a party instead of a funeral! Raising money for the hospice which so desperately needs it.

Only 17% of the Weldmars funds are provided by the NHS, which leaves them needing to raise an incredible £27,500 per day to be able to provide the services that they do. This percentage has decreased by 8% in the last 8 years. They raise the other 83% of their funds through their 24 charity shops across Dorset and with the help of their community, us!

Over the years we have raised around £6000 through donations on the door and online. It's a great way to raise money for such a worthy cause whilst simultaneously having a good knees up. The first one went so well we decided to do it again, and again, and again….

We have had a host of DJs grace the party since it started playing everything from funk, soul, disco, hiphop, latin, afrobeat and house music, and the big London show is no exception! We’ve got a mob of experienced selectors plus a few very special guests to keep you moving.

Admission is free and safe and welcoming to the newcomer or seasonered performer.

If you’d like to take part show up with your instrument, any questions that you may have, please send to infohackneyrhythm@gmail.com

BRUK THERAPY // MATICA // LORD BYRON // ENTEK // CENGIZ // BROKEN BEAT // JAZZ // HOUSE

For this November session, Bruk Therapy invites Matica & Lord Byron alongside residents Entek & Cengiz !

Matica brings a style unbounded by genre, drawing influences from all around the world. Starting DJing and producing in 2018 based out of Liverpool, he’s played on a wide variety of lineups across the country, including a number of festivals such as Gottwood, We Out Here, Secret Garden Party and more.

Matica’s musical style incorporates a wide array of sounds, ranging from Jazz, Broken Beat, and Disco, through to Afro House, Garage, Jungle and beyond. With current releases on Dance Regular, Shall I Bruk It, and many more forthcoming, his sets and productions will be sure to take you on a journey.

Lord Byron is a name that epitomises someone with a deep love of all things musical, a high level of skill, capability, talent and a dedication to his craft. The intuitive way he DJ’s without headphones (and sometimes with only one deck on occasion!) has been witnessed by many. He's honed his technical skills in clubs all over Europe for the last three decades. Always on the grind and getting ever closer to the zenith of his abilities. Able to adapt and read a crowd, within the moment - inviting ears to listen, entertain and educate a crowd about this thing called music. Raised on vinyl, paying his dues on the underground into the digital age with gusto. A multi-genre aficionado, always with a hungry ear for those new, cutting-edge vibes that keep him in constant demand on the club scene. Anything from House to the future sound of Broken Beats, the attitude is the same... “if the beat’s dope, then I’m on it.”  Instinctively he has an innate ability to touch a crowd and connect with them on a deeper level than many others can.

Riddims to free your Mind, your Body and your Soul...

Entek is a North London based French producer, musician and Wolrd #2 finger drummer! He is a member of the Selectors Assemble, releases music under the CoOp Presents label and he is a part of the Orii Jam Community house band.

JAZZY SPORT LONDON:

Jazzy Sport London is the first international team of ‘Jazzy Sport’, aiming to connect the local music scene between Japan, UK, and beyond. We are a collective to offer a new form of harmony through music; currently hosting radio residencies at Voices Radio in London and Tsubaki FM in Tokyo and hosting local parties that break all boundaries between any borders.

We believe there are all kinds of Earth-beings on this mother planet and it’s important to respect each other. It's simple, but we don’t acknowledge it and end up leading to war… If we inspire, collaborate, and help one another, we can win the war, any war. Victory means passing the baton to the next generation with a brighter world than we are in now.

TINA EDWARDS:

Tina Edwards is a DJ at the forefront of the UK Jazz explosion. In the wake of live acts breaking through onto major stages, it’s time for Jazz to dominate on the dancefloor. Having been a vocal pioneer of the UK scene for a decade—and DJing for the past 5—Tina proves that jazz and club culture are perfect partners.

WIth contagious energy and deep music knowledge—from West African groove and latin-house to 00’s Italo Jazz—Tina’s sets are never predictable. She performs across the UK and has played in Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Chicago and LA, all as an independent artist. She’s shared line-ups with Gilles Peterson, Colleen Murphy, Coco Maria, Scarlett O Malley, Delfonic, Rebecca Vasmant, Poly-Ritmo and more. Her party, Love is Everywhere, puts jazz dance floor at the forefront—along with Latin, Brazilian and house—and pays homage to the likes of Dingwalls and Shiftless Shuffle.

Tina hosts multi-genre new music show Next Big Thing on British Airways as well as her self-titled monthly residency on Soho Radio—not to mention the occasional Bandcamp Weekly. As one of Worldwide FM’s longest serving residents, Tina launched the popular breakfast show WW Daily, and hosted extra shows: EZH and Universal Sanctuary. In 2022 she presented the TV documentary JAZZ UK :Spitting Fire which aired on BBC One and BBC Four - testament to the fact that Tina is a trusted broadcaster and tastemaker. As a curator, she heads up Queer Jazz, promoting LGBTQIA+ talent in the jazz community, and re:sonate, programming far-reaching line-ups with fellow tastemaker, Tim Garcia.
