THE DAD DISCO 8TH BIRTHDAY // FUNDRAISER // DISCO // FUNK // SOUL // HOUSE
Celebrate 8 years of The Dad Disco! Join us for a night of soul, disco, and funk as we raise essential funds for Weldmar Hospice, supporting their incredible care for Dorset’s community.
The Dad Disco was born 8 years ago to raise money for the Weldmar Hospice, a facility in Dorset which provides faultless end of life care and support for people with life limiting illnesses. The amazing staff there cared for both my dad and then step dad in their final days, and after dad passed, we decided to throw a party instead of a funeral! Raising money for the hospice which so desperately needs it.
Only 17% of the Weldmars funds are provided by the NHS, which leaves them needing to raise an incredible £27,500 per day to be able to provide the services that they do. This percentage has decreased by 8% in the last 8 years. They raise the other 83% of their funds through their 24 charity shops across Dorset and with the help of their community, us!
Over the years we have raised around £6000 through donations on the door and online. It's a great way to raise money for such a worthy cause whilst simultaneously having a good knees up. The first one went so well we decided to do it again, and again, and again….
We have had a host of DJs grace the party since it started playing everything from funk, soul, disco, hiphop, latin, afrobeat and house music, and the big London show is no exception! We’ve got a mob of experienced selectors plus a few very special guests to keep you moving.

That’s exactly why these nights and Grow’s initiative are so important. It’s a chance to step out, shake off the frost, and immerse yourself in music that warms not just the body, but the soul. From the vibrant spirit of the Mediterranean to the jazz- inspired grooves, this set will create moments that invite you to move freely and joyfully - a celebration of life, connection, and movement. Moontalk is an Istanbul born, London based DJ and radio host. Classically trained in piano, introduced to electronic music via trip hop and fascinated by Middle Eastern percussion, she carefully curates expansive sets through soulful earthly beats and alien basslines in equal measure. With an affinity towards risky genre combinations and bold mood shifts, her sets dance across a broad tempo range from downtempo, acid jazz, broken beat, Balearic house and left field techno to drum'n bass and breaks with frequent sprinkles of free jazz, dub, ambient, global grooves and drumworks. This summer she returned to Lost Village as a resident DJ and played at ION festival as part of My Analog Journal's takeover, marking her first international performance. She frequently plays across London venues such as Grow, NT's Loft, Night Tales and Corsica Studios. She is one of the resident DJs at Om Being, where she delves into deep and experimental ambient spectrums to create experiences of introspection and transcendence through moving meditation.
“I like to keep an open mind and look into the history and evolution of genres when I'm digging. When I curate I never stay in one mood for too long and always play with dichotomies: calm vs chaos, dark vs light, introspection vs euphoria, classic instrumentation over modular synthesis. An all night long set is an exciting opportunity for me to showcase all layers of my taste and truly delve into the journey building and storytelling aspects which I'm so passionate about and aim to bring to all my sets. We will embark on a cosmic and hedonistic sonic adventure together that will stimulate our minds as much as our bodies. “

Tai, aka 'TJT', is a DJ and vinyl enthusiast born and raised in London. He’s the founder of Illasoul, a live jazz event and club night that brings together music lovers from across the city. We’re excited to have him back playing at Grow after an incredible warm-up at DeepDig last September warming up for the legendary Patrick Forge.
With a deep love for records and a knack for mixing different sounds, TJT brings something unique to every set he plays. His style is all about variety, keeping the vibe fresh and energy flowing with a blend of Jazz, Brokenbeat, UK Garage, Hip Hop, Reggae, House, and Jungle.
Whether he’s spinning at Illasoul or any other gig, you can always expect quality music, great energy, and a love for the culture that resonates through each record played.
“This January, you can expect an all-night-long journey that celebrates a very mixed bag of styles. I love mixing different sounds, so there’s hopefully going to be a bit of something for everyone. I try to create a vibe where, by the end of the night, you will feel like you have been through a clear start, middle, and end of something. January can be a tough month - New Year blues, cold weather, no money etc. - but getting out, dancing, and socializing reminds us we’re not as alone as we sometimes may think. Not only that, this night is free! So why not come out with your crew and start the year with some good tunes! “

“January is usually a time for relaxing on the sofa, and hiding away from the world after exhausting your money and social energy during the busy festive period. But now it's time to recharge, get out, have some fun, and create new memories for 2025. It's important to get moving, see friends, and bring some light into the darkest and hardest month of the year. Come and join us on the dancefloor for good vibes, boosting your endorphins while shaking a leg with old and new friends.” CSGRV & DEMACQUE

SPECULATIVE REMEMORY // AUDIO & VISUAL // DJS
Join us at Grow for an evening exploring experimental project - Speculative ReMemory - which includes audio and visual work made as part of an engagement project at Alice Billing House in Stratford.
These cumulative creative contributions have emerged from a network of artists and local communities, and draws upon non-traditional methodologies, indigenous practices of storytelling and the collation of stories to create a body of work that utilises experimental formats of archival and artistic outcomes. Rooted in feminist and anti-colonial epistemologies, the intention has been to unearth the rhizomatic connective tissues between past, present and future.
Expect excerpts from the digital archive, physical representations and a chance to meet artists involved in the project.
The archive project is led by artist and programme facilitator, Sandra Falase, part of an engagement programme run by Grow Studios at Alice Billing House in Stratford, supported by the Creative Land Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund.

NOT THE USUAL JAM SESSION // OPEN JAM
A unique musical experience that breaks the mould. David (The Orbalist, Hackney Rhythm) hosts a jam that is accessible for everyone—no more pay-to-play, no more rehearsed sets. A space where synths, sequencers, MPCs, and E-drums harmonise with guitars, basses, keys, and acoustic drums.
When Alessandro Corda and David met at the jam, they immediately realised they shared the same passion for music and had similar values. Alex, a versatile musician, DJ, and producer, and a regular at London’s jams and host of a couple, offered to work closely with David. Not only did he manage the stage, but he also contributed behind the scenes, taking the jam to the next level.
Join us on the first Sunday of each month. Admission is free and safe and welcoming to the newcomer or seasoned performer. Whether you’re a keyboard virtuoso, a beatmaker, or a storyteller with a voice, this jam is for you. Bring your passion and your open mind. Let’s create music that transcends the ordinary and be part of the Not The Usual Jam and Grow musical community.
Our stage has hosted the tentative strumming of novice guitarists, the mesmerising loops of experienced producers, and the raw vocals of singers discovering their voices. From Charlie Stacey to Qoha or George The Poet, our stage has welcomed talented artists from various disciplines, including regulars: Alex Mike The Mic, Freddie Mpanga, Nico (MoorMoor), Conor Larkin, Matt Duduryn, Tom Caton, Richard Castle, Simon (Koyoka), and many others who come together to share their music experience, celebrate their progress, enhance growth, and enjoy each other - keeping eclecticism our flagship. The NTUJ session is a sandbox for sonic exploration, where David conducts, orchestrates, and brings people together. Here, musical boundaries dissolve, genres intertwine, and magic is born. Bring your instruments, synths, drum machines, unconventional gear, and curiosity.
If you’d like to take part show up with your instrument, any questions that you may have, please send them to infohackneyrhythm@gmail.com

Admission is free and safe and welcoming to the newcomer or seasonered performer.
If you’d like to take part show up with your instrument, any questions that you may have, please send to infohackneyrhythm@gmail.com

The intuitive way he DJ’s without headphones (and sometimes with only one deck on occasion!) has been witnessed by many. Able to adapt and read a crowd, within the moment - inviting ears to listen, entertain and educate a crowd about this thing called music.
