GIRLZ B LIKE: RAZZLE DAZZLE CHRISTMAS PARTY: DONNA GIBSON // MARCIA DAVINYLMC // PALOMA // (BOOGIE, DISCO, GOSPEL, BROKEN BEAT, JAZZ, HOUSE, AFRO RIDDIMS)

After a decade of shaping London’s dance floors with pure joy, deep groove and unapologetic female energy, Girlz B Like is ending 2025 the only way it knows how - with glitter, groove, and a whole lot of heart.

ABOUT THE EVENT & DJS

Girlz B Like: 10 Years Strong – and Ready to Razzle Dazzle London One More Time

Following the incredible success of their 10th birthday celebration, where crowds packed the venue despite the day's train chaos, the grassroots brand has announced its grand finale of the year: Girlz B Like: End of Year Razzle Dazzle Christmas Party, lat its spiritual home Grow, Hackney Wick, on Saturday 13 December 2025.

Now, the stage is set for one last dance of the year, a festive blow-out promising all the sparkle of the season and all the soul of the underground. Making her Girlz B Like debut, Donna Gibson (Paris-based vinyl purist and daughter of Gibson Brothers’ legend Patrick Gibson) is set to spin tropical boogie and sun-kissed disco melodies. Joining her, DJ Paloma brings back her infectious, joy-filled selections after lighting up the decks at this year’s International Women’s Day celebration. And of course, Marcia DaVinylMC, the GBL founder and creative heartbeat, rounds out the lineup with deep disco, Afrobeat, gospel, funk, and real house cuts to keep the dance floor glowing till late.

Dress to dazzle - think gold, silver, velvet red, and everything shiny. Forget your office party: this is the Christmas event where glamour meets groove and community reigns supreme.

Ten years in and still one nation under a groove.

FROM THE CRATES: KING DOM  (BRASIL: WAY DOWN DEEP BELOW THE DANCEFLOOR) FREE

Discover an evening of deep listening, rare grooves and carefully curated selections at Grow Hackney. More than background music, it’s a chance to slow down, tune in and experience the craft of selectors.

SET FOCUS

Brasil: Way Down Deep Below the Dancefloor travels the road less trodden, exploring the deep and underplayed. When records are bought for "that" tune, the real gold is often found in the overlooked grooves beneath the dust.

Brazilian musicians have a unique ability to express and embrace the complexities of human life with deep and beautiful resonance: the love, the tragedy, the saudade, the joy, and the multitude of expressions that come from living a life in touch with a deeper purpose.

The set creates a magnificent quilted tapestry in which listeners can feel safe and enveloped. Eyes half-closed, a slow head nod, a shared glance with a friend silently communicates that this may be the best music they have ever heard and that it is also listening back.

While primarily a listening experience that travels the broad map of Brazil, King Dom can seamlessly transition to dancing if demanded, with changes that feel natural and fluid.

ABOUT THE SELECTOR

King Dom is a lifelong collector and student of vinyl archaeology, a collaborator, curator, creator, and discoverer. Black music forms the foundation of his life, while Brazilian music is the blood that sustains his soul.

Among his proudest moments is a reissue for TimeCapsule Records of an underrecognised Brazilian artist and album, which sold out completely before the first press. Another highlight was a six-hour Brazilian set for the 69th BFI London Film Festival, where every visitor, whether waiting for a show, attending the set, or drawn in by curiosity, embraced the music and danced throughout the night.

Every time King Dom unifies a room of strangers and guides them into a deep, immersive experience, it produces a feeling beyond compare.

ABOUT THE SERIES

ABOUT THE DJS

CHARLIE DARK:

"Dancing is a form of expression at the best of times but dancing in the dark to loud music can be liberating, life changing and primal in ways you could never imagine"

When not out running the streets with his urban run collective Run Dem Crew, teaching Yoga or advocating mental health and wellness amongst his peers Charlie Dark can be found playing records to dance floors across the globe.

Raised in South London on a diet of pirate radio and warehouses partie, Charlie has been spinning records and igniting dance floors since the early eighties. From his time on Mo Wax records with Attica Blues in the 90’s, a major label deal on Sony Records and the plethora of remixes and productions Deejaying and bringing people together has been at the heart of everything he’s gone on to achieve. If you ever caught his Blacktronica Parties, sets at the legendary Plastic People or listened to his radio shows then you’ll know that 'All forms of music in one room the way it used to be’ has always been his motto and his record crates run deep.

With a vast record collection spanning various genres his predominately vinyl sets are known for their eclecticism spanning Dub to Disco to House, Funk, Soul, Reggae, African gems and beyond. Uplifting energy filled genre jumping sets, hosted by a selector who always brings the joyful vibes.

It’s this versatility and dedication to deep-digging that has brought her to venues and festivals across Europe, Australia and Japan.  Tina has enchanted audiences at some of the most prestigious festivals in the world, from Glastonbury to Montreux Jazz Festival, Lost Village to North Sea Jazz and Detour Disco. ABOUT THE EVENT

Berlin’s powerhouse drummer and producer Magro returns to London with a special guest, the inimitable Sedric Perry, for an electrifying night of jazz, R&B and soul, fused with Magro’s explosive, genre-bending beats and Sedric’s velvet-smooth, high-voltage vocals. His third album, featuring Telemakus and Tom Ford, is due out this November.

Philadelphia-born, London-based vocalist Sedric Perry brings unstoppable charisma and a voice that moves between gospel fire, jazz finesse and contemporary R&B gloss. A champion of queer joy and BIPOC representation, his work has been featured in Billboard, Gay Times, HBO’s We’re Here, and his songwriting has gone Gold in two countries. Whether soaring through a ballad or locking into a groove, Sedric delivers performances charged with authenticity and emotional punch.

With releases on Rhythm Section International, BBC 6 Music love from Gilles Peterson, and a critically acclaimed 2025 LP The Oasis, Footshooter’s sets are always deep, warm and endlessly groovable.

Opening up the night is David Chen (DVD) is an emerging designer, DJ and creative technologist based in London. His interdisciplinary approach explores the intersection of music, design and engineering, with a particular focus on sound system creation. Similar to his approach to design, his DJ sets draw upon an exploration across the bpm ranges and unconfined, blending together sounds of dub, jazz, breakbeat, funk, house and beyond.

FAR CORNERS PRESENTS SONIDO TUPINAMBA // NOSSA! // KAMAR // MAGDALENA MOURSY

Fresh off the back of a sold-out July edition, Far Corners are back in one of their favourite London spaces for another night of vibrant sounds and good energy. This time, we’re welcoming guests from near and far to bring a touch of magic to Hackney.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Heading up the bill is none other than the founder of Poly-Rythmo Club in Barcelona, Sonido Tupinamba. Born in the Andes Mountains and now Espana-based, Sonido is a tireless researcher of African and Latin American rhythms.

During her 25-year career, Tupinamba has performed at major festivals worldwide: Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Estéreo Picnic, Bahidora, among others. In 2025, she was chosen by DJ Harvey to perform on his "Harvey and Friends" stage for the closing of MOGA festival, as well as at Harveys ‘Mercury Rising’ legendary party in Pikes, Ibiza. She’s a close friend of the Far Corners family and we can’t wait to have her down.

Nossa! is a duo we’ve been wanting to get to a Far Corners party for a proper long time. Their Manchester based party is characterised by a shared love of organic and left-field sounds from all over the world and the joy of finding interesting routes back and forth through their respective record collections.

Made up of DJ duo Hannah O'Gorman and Keltoi, some of their favourite areas of exploration include Afro-Latin rhythms, jazz, funk, psychedelia and weirdo disco, their findings of which have landed them on line ups alongside the likes of Gilles Peterson, Coco Maria, Andy Votel and GUTS. Currently, you can catch them hosting a monthly show on Worldwide FM.

Fresh from his appearances at Glastonbury, We Out Here, Love Supreme and Phonox these past few months, Far Corners chef Kamar is back at the wheel for this November edition. He’ll be bringing a special bag of global goods, inspired by his discoveries from his Worldwide FM show, Tealeaves, which explores sound through migration, as well as his explorations across Latin Boogie, Asian Electro and South Asian Deep House.

We’re lucky to have the inimitable Magdalena Moursy joining us as well - Station Manager of Worldwide FM and producer of the show Sounds From Egypt, her collection is a seriously impressive thing! Magdalena has a special penchant for promoting global grassroots music, and is currently in Taiwan empowering local music collectives as part of the amazing Studio Monkey Shoulder programme. We can’t wait to have her down and hear what she’s amassed on her travels.

OVERJOYED: JOHNNY RECKLESS // SOUL, R&B, HOUSE

After a perfect day shoulder-to-shoulder with the GI Roadshow at Notting Hill Carnival, we’re bringing that same energy back into a warehouse under a red light.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Friday 14th November at Grow, we welcome Johnny Reckless (Four Directions / BBE) – last seen closing out the Grove at We Out Here, bringing his trademark journey through the deeper end of house.

Now in his 40th year of DJing, Johnny’s history runs deep: from sound systems in the 80s to decades in London’s record shops, and as a cornerstone of our dear friends over at BBE, he’s a selector rooted in the four pillars of dance – Drum, Rhythm, Sound, Spirit.

Joining him on the night are Overjoyed residents Gilla & Russ Ryan, keeping things moving b2b from warm-up to wind-down with a blend of rare groove, house and r&b. If you’ve been to one of their parties before, you know what to expect: a dancing room, a red light and proper sound.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Both are huge fans of the deep & soulful house sound and culture, which has been passed down from the previous generation, working to keep that same energy alive within the new generation to build a community of music lovers, in and amongst the mass influx of disposable, short-lived trends that surround us.

NOT THE USUAL JAM SESSION // OPEN JAM // FREE

A unique musical experience that breaks the mould. David (The Orbalist, Hackney Rhythm) hosts a jam that is accessible for everyone—no more pay-to-play, no more rehearsed sets. A space where synths, sequencers, MPCs, and E-drums harmonise with guitars, basses, keys, and acoustic drums.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

When Alessandro Corda and David met at the jam, they immediately realised they shared the same passion for music and had similar values. Alex, a versatile musician, DJ, and producer, and a regular at London’s jams and host of a couple, offered to work closely with David. Not only did he manage the stage, but he also contributed behind the scenes, taking the jam to the next level.

Join us on the first Sunday of each month. Admission is free and safe and welcoming to the newcomer or seasoned performer. Whether you’re a keyboard virtuoso, a beatmaker, or a storyteller with a voice, this jam is for you. Bring your passion and your open mind. Let’s create music that transcends the ordinary and be part of the Not The Usual Jam and Grow musical community.

Our stage has hosted the tentative strumming of novice guitarists, the mesmerising loops of experienced producers, and the raw vocals of singers discovering their voices. From Charlie Stacey to Qoha or George The Poet, our stage has welcomed talented artists from various disciplines, including regulars: Alex Mike The Mic, Freddie Mpanga, Nico (MoorMoor), Conor Larkin, Matt Duduryn, Tom Caton, Richard Castle, Simon (Koyoka), and many others who come together to share their music experience, celebrate their progress, enhance growth, and enjoy each other - keeping eclecticism our flagship. The NTUJ session is a sandbox for sonic exploration, where David conducts, orchestrates, and brings people together. Here, musical boundaries dissolve, genres intertwine, and magic is born. Bring your instruments, synths, drum machines, unconventional gear, and curiosity.

If you’d like to take part show up with your instrument, any questions that you may have, please send them to infohackneyrhythm@gmail.com
