Since GROW opened our doors in 2014, we’ve hosted 250+ events each year and had over 150,000 people through our doors.
Young musicians have jammed with Abass Dodoo (Ginger Baker band), Japanese contemporary dancers and indigenous didgeridoo masters from Australia, to name just a few. Our artist partners credit the collaborations, regularity of exposure and payments as helping them hone their craft. After her stunning debut here in 2019, betina quest has continued to make waves on the international music scene, blending Afro-Soul, electronic beats, and acoustic elements into a sound that is entirely her own.
We’re thrilled to welcome back Burundian soul artist betina quest for a captivating solo performance at Grow Hackney. With influences spanning across continents, her music carries the soulful depth of her African roots, while infusing modern rhythms and forward-thinking production.

To celebrate the launch of River in the Sky, the full 8-piece Dollars Trio live band will be performing at Grow. Expect an evening of captivating melodies and immersive grooves.

Dollars Trio returns with River in the Sky, their hotly anticipated EP that blends smoked-out southern soul with the cinematic flair of spaghetti western soundtracks. This new release showcases the remarkable vocal talents of Andreya Triana (Bonobo, Flying Lotus, Quantic) and Adeleye Omotayo (Amy Winehouse, Gorillaz, Matthew Herbert), adding depth and soul to their already rich sound.
Building on the success of their debut EP Wild West, which garnered support from Huey Morgan at BBC6 Music and earned them comparisons to acclaimed acts like Khruangbin, BADBADNOTGOOD, Menahan Street Band, and Hermanos Gutiérrez, Dollars Trio continues to push the boundaries of their unique sound.
To celebrate the launch of River in the Sky, the full 8-piece Dollars Trio live band will be performing at Grow, Hackney Wick on the 25th of September, 2024. Expect an evening of captivating melodies and immersive grooves as the band brings their latest project to life in an intimate, vibrant setting.

GROW LIVE: TONY KOFI AND ALINA BZHEZHINSKA // JAZZ
Join us for an unforgettable evening of jazz as British saxophone legend Tony Kofi teams up with the extraordinary harpist Alina Bzhezhinska in a unique collaboration that transcends musical boundaries.
Since their partnership began in 2017, this remarkable jazz duo has mesmerised audiences with their seamless blend of ethereal harp sounds and soulful saxophone melodies. Their music draws on rich jazz traditions, but it’s their innovation and improvisation that truly set them apart. This concert promises to be a captivating musical journey, exploring the connection between seasoned mastery and fresh creativity.
Tony Kofi, a two-time BBC Jazz Award winner, has played with some of the greatest names in jazz, including Ornette Coleman and The World Saxophone Quartet. His powerful, versatile saxophone style—ranging across alto, baritone, soprano, and tenor saxophones—has made him one of the UK’s leading jazz multi-instrumentalists. Kofi’s performances are a masterclass in jazz expression, and this is a rare opportunity to experience his talent in an intimate setting.
Alina Bzhezhinska is one of the world’s leading harpists and a true innovator in contemporary jazz. Known for her genre-defying work, she has collaborated with top artists such as Kamaal Williams, DJ Spinna, and Shabaka Hutchings. As a soloist and with her HipHarpCollective, she’s performed at prestigious venues like the Royal Albert Hall, North Sea Jazz Festival, and Edinburgh International Festival. Alina’s fusion of classical harp with modern jazz, as heard on her critically acclaimed albums Inspiration and Reflections, has pushed the boundaries of what the harp can achieve. Their latest duo album, Altera Vita, will be released in 2024.
Supporting these luminaries are rising star Menelik Claffey on electric bass and drummer Matt Holms, whose dynamic performances provide the rhythmic heartbeat for this exceptional ensemble. Claffey's deep grooves and melodic sensibility, paired with Holms' energetic touch, perfectly complement the duo's artistry.

RITMO DEL BARRIO PRESENTS: CHICHA POR FAVOR // MANZANA TROPICAL (LIVE) // PERUVIAN CUMBIA
The record label that specialises in reissues of Peruvian music, Ritmo del Barrio and Grow Hackney present “Chicha Por Favor” an excursion into Peruvian Cumbia, also known as Chicha!!
They’re an exciting new Latin act from London playing the form of Peruvian Cumbia known as Chicha. Having been brought up immersed in London's thriving Latin American musical community. Young musicians Manuy and Cleyder Figueroa began the project inspired by the heritage of their motherland in Peru.
Their music incorporates a homage to classic Peruvian acts including Grupo Nectar, Los Pakines and Chacalon as well as Latin legends such as Santana combined with a strong London sensibility.
Manzana's live set comprises some reinterpretations of Chicha classics and some original songs.
Paskal Rough & Tough (Cool Breeze)
Paskal is a music enthusiast and record collector of variegated music genres, with a main focus on the vintage sounds of the 60s and 70s from Jamaica, the Caribbean and Latin America. He also runs “Cool Breeze” a music night focused on the vintage sounds of the American tropics travelling restlessly across the Caribbean islands and the Latin American borders. A musical journey from the Peruvian Andes to the Colombian coasts, listening to the pungent lyrics of the calypsonians from Panama and feeling the African-inspired drums of the French Antilles, soaking the low frequencies of the Jamaican bass lines and dancing at the hypnotic melodies of the Mexican accordions... and beyond.
TOMOKO (aka Lady Kamikaze)
She collects and spins music from the 30’s - 70’s Jazz, Swing, Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Funk, Gospel and Afro-Latin & Caribbean Sounds on 45rpm & 78rpm. Her eclectic mix of vintage music takes you toa whirlwind musical dance experience.
Independent record label based in London, UK, Ritmo del Barrio has been focused on the exploration of vintage Latin American music with special attention to Peruvian Cumbia, also known as Chicha.
Founded in 2021, RDB reissues feature Peruvian artists of the calibre of Cuarteto Universal, Los Shapis, Julio Mau y Los Imbatibles and Los Dexters de Uchiza; collaborating and working together with historical Peruvian labels like Discos Horóscopo, Music Shop Peru’ and Sono Radio.

Come to Grow for an epic Saturday night led by legendary long-time friend Williams Cumberbache who brings together Afro-Latin band, Tumbaito alongside special guest Volta45 who takes us on a musical voyage till 2am.
Tumbaito
Williams Cumberbatch, a long-standing family member of Grow, is a talented percussionist based in London. You might have seen him playing the congas each week, either solo or alongside some of the top jazz players in the city. Williams leads the Afro Latin band Tumbaito, which has captivated audiences with their live performances. Tumbaito’s music blends ancient Afro-Latin rhythms with modern urban innovations, creating a unique and vibrant sound. Williams has an impressive musical background, having worked with artists like Björk and Goldie. If you’re looking for an exciting fusion of jazz and Latin grooves, catching Tumbaito’s performance is a must!
Volta45
Volta45 (Bernard Johnson-Tackie) is a Ghanaian-born, London-based record collector, writer, and creative lead of The GoldenStool Project. His unique DJ style blends jazzy and percussive sounds from Africa, South America, the French Caribbean, and beyond. Volta45 is a regular on the European and UK music festival circuit, having played parties from Turin to the glorious fields of the Shambala Festival. During the UK lockdown, he curated a 5-part podcast series titled “Highlife Music Deconstructed (HMD),” documenting the history of Ghanaian Highlife music from 1920 to the present. This series gained recognition in Songlines Magazine and Music in Africa (Paris). Volta45 has collaborated with various bands and record labels, including Soundway Records (Konkoma), Analog Africa, Strut Records, The Kwarmy Band, and Balimaya Project.

Caspar Grant is a London-based MC/Producer originally from Birmingham, creating experimental hip hop and psychedelic bass music. From 2005 he was half of the progressive rap duo H.L.I. along with fellow luminary Wasif Scion. Isaac B is a London-based hip-hop artist and entrepreneur raised in Florida. London Magician & Mind Reader, Magician Magico Hiroshi, Professional award-winning magician & mind Reader and Contemporary magic.

Micheal Sabastian brings together electronic sounds; the freedom of jazz, and the depth of world. His mission is to cultivate connection and share freedom through music and performance. Merging contemporary music with transcendental spirituality through improvisation and play and bringing together a selection of talented collaborators, Micheal creates spaces of collective ecstasy, inspired by his time on a variety of dance-floors.

Joining us for their London debut, Cumbiamba y Corrinche brings the original sounds of alternative Latin music and modern rhythms fusing the past and present of Colombian folklore with nu-Cumbia. Think Latin American music with a global twist. Join London’s Latin community for our final and most explosive live music performance of our birthday weekend to dance, listen, and explore Latin American rhythms, instruments and traditions.
We welcome directly from Colombia the original native sounds of Gaitas & Tambores with "Curramba & Corrinche" with more than 20 years of experience playing alongside artists as Los Bajeros de la Montana, Los Hermanos Yepes, Gaiteros de San Jacinto, The legend Sixto Salgado "Paito" among others, the night will be featuring amazing top musicians from Colombia as Javi Lopez, Yamir Gaitero, Nachin and powered by our own @latinosinlondon #Colombeats,
The show will bring the rhythms of the Colombian Pacific and Caribbean including traditional instruments such as Tambora, llamador, Alegre (Happy) drums with sweet melodies by Gaita, clarinet and Flauta de millo including West African and European influences blend on guitar strings and drum snare carnival sounds; The powerful singing and a call and response style interacting with the public will bring the party atmosphere from Colombia to London.

One of the longest-standing friends and collaborators, Marcia Carr is a bonafide club legend with more than 3 decades of experience DJing, whose mixes have graced BBC Radio 1 and Rinse FM, and appearances at Berlin’s Panorama Bar and Louie Vega’s Expansions Party.

Hotdoggrrrl & the Sesame Buns is a dynamic band formed in Hackney Wick in 2014. Their music is a heady blend of grounded rock ‘n’ roll, soul, folk, and garage. With dark melodies and a punching attitude, they deliver unexpected performances. Their sound is inspired by heretic rock ‘n’ roll, fueled by perversion, youth, rum, cigarettes, and debauchery.

Hackney Wick DJs Petra’s Dream take you all the way to 2am with the usual blend of Synth-boogie, South African bubblegum, Brazilian fusion and Dubwise heat to keep you satisfied until the very last drop.
We won’t be taking any bookings across the weekend, so come down early to enjoy the fun. All the tickets will be on the door for the weekend. Free before 8 PM, £5 from 8 PM and £8 after 10 PM.

Master conga player Williams Cumberbache and special guests lead proceedings from Grow’s outdoor floating stage whilst you enjoy brunch classics with Grow twists from our kitchen and drinks menu.
Kick back on our garden terrace and watch boats float down the River Lea whilst you treat yourself to hearty, homemade food, and signature to the backdrop of world-class live music.
Our special guest this week is Artie Zaitz. Artie’s guitar influences include Grant Green, Kenny Burrell, Jim Hall, John Scofield and Charlie Christian. He is equally at home on stage and in the recording studio (Moses Boyd Exodus, The Banger Factory, Pee Wee Ellis, Jordan Rakei, Johnny O’Neal, Gary Crosby, Alex Garnett), performing with various line ups across UK and Europe. Paying homage to the Blue Note recordings of the 60’s era, guitar prodigy Artie Zaitz leads a trio of London’s most grooving, swinging musicians in an organ based band, playing his original blues-drenched tunes as well as arrangements of soul jazz & latin classics.

The first performance will begin at 12pm and the last performance will finish by 4pm
There will be plenty of space for people who just want a drink
