ABOUT GROW
GROW is an independent and grassroots cultural space with international impact, based in Hackney Wick. The venue includes busy bars, kitchen and indoor and outdoor areas from which people enjoy good food, drinks and cultural and community events throughout the day into the night. Since opening in 2014, our aim is to extend opportunities for people to enjoy a creative and nurturing environment whilst exploring ecological and social sustainability. We are an accredited Hackney Nights Venue and part of an ecosystem of artist and maker spaces and a working yard called Grow Studios. 2024 is our 10th anniversary year.

CHEF DE PARTIE
We are currently looking for Chefs De Partie for evening shifts through Wednesday to Sunday.

Work with Grow’s Head Chef/Kitchen Manager and a team of chefs in GROW's kitchen! We are a fresh produce kitchen and seek to use local suppliers/producers where possible. We have a strong plant-based offering with high-welfare meat dishes. We seek to strike a balance between good quality and healthy offerings that are desirable in a cultural venue.
As part of the role you will be expected to:
Take control of the kitchen in the absence off the Head Chef
Support the Head Chef in the development and roll out of the menu, loosely middle eastern/european with a healthy edge and an emphasis on plant based (not exclusively plant based, we do serve some sourced meat and dairy).
Help to cost any new menu items, being conscious of customer price points and our margins
Assist in recruiting and training of new kitchen team members
Work in the kitchen cooking and running the pass
Be responsible for delegating tasks as appropriate
Be responsible for health and safety within the kitchen including cleaning rotas
Be responsible for supplier communication, stock management and ordering produce
Produce weekly rotas for the kitchen team
Work with the front of house team to ensure a good customer experience. We aim to foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers
What qualities are we looking for?
A great communicator and team player
Strong management and organisational skills
A real interest in good food, plant based options and sustainability
Someone with a good understanding of HACCP and kitchen due diligence
Someone able to work cooperatively with an existing team
Someone who stays calm under pressure, is good at crisis management and conflict resolution
Level 2 food hygiene certificate (minimum)
