AN INTRODUCTION TO THE ART OF TREE PROPAGATION WITH MARCELO WHITE AND FELICITY JONES OF THE TREE MUSKETEERS, PLUS A MEAL

Over 2022, Grow, Hackney is hosting 10 workshops for Hackney residents to join makers, producers, musicians, artists and activists and participant in an introductory creative activity and enjoy a communal meal together.
This session is led by Arborist & Mycophile Marcelo White, and fellow Tree Musketeer Felicity Jones. In this workshop, you will:
Plant a sweet chestnut seed to take home and nurture
Be introduced to different methods of propagation
Discuss the effects of climate change on our native trees
Learn the importance of building climate resilience into our urban tree population
The workshop will last 1.5 hours followed by a vegan/veggie communal meal where you'll get a chance to to ask more questions to Marcelo and Felicity and the Grow Team. You will not need to bring anything as materials will be provided but we suggest clothes you don't mind getting dirty!
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK
You must live in Hackney and provide a Hackney postcode on booking
You must be over 18 years of age (please note: we operate a challenge 25 policy if you wish to buy alcohol)
You will get a free vegan/veggie meal as part of the workshop
You will be able to buy drinks as part of meal
Please check your email before leaving for this workshop in case there is a last-minute cancellation of the event
If you are unable to make it, please do let us know as early as possible as there is a waiting list.
These events are part of the Hello Again, Hackney campaign, a Hackney Council (LBH) Initiative which aims to encourage residents and visitors to rediscover their favourite venues, businesses and public spaces and help get the local economy back on its feet after the strain of the coronavirus
About The Tree Musketeers
The Tree Musketeers are a group of volunteers who:
Grow trees at our community Tree Nursery.
Plant trees in parks and other green spaces across Hackney.
Plant and care for Hackney community orchards.
Support local groups to plant trees on estates and green spaces.
Manage forest trees in Wick Woodland.
Provide memorial and sponsored tree plantings.
Work with Hackney Council and other community organisations to promote good practices for urban tree stewardship.

Grow is an independent and grassroots cultural space with international impact, based in Hackney Wick. Since 2014, our aim is to remove financial barriers to extend opportunities to enjoy a creative and nurturing environment whilst exploring ecological and social sustainability.
