WALKING TOUR IN HACKNEY WICK & MEAL
£5 PP
MONDAY 4 APRIL 6.30-9.30PM
Over 2022, Grow, Hackney is hosting 10 workshops for Hackney residents to join makers, producers, musicians, artists and activists and participant in an introductory creative activity and enjoy a communal meal together.
As Brexit, Covid and climate change conspire to keep us increasingly at home, how can the local help us explore the global?
For over a decade, international walking artist Simon Cole has been tracing William Blake's golden thread through the streets of Hackney Wick - responding to place.
The psychogeographical journey took him on an unexpected pilgrimage to the edge of Europe as he found himself enmeshed in the world of the legendary cultural theorist Walter Benjamin. How does Benjamin's famously unfinished Arcades Project connect with Blake, the refugee crisis and our lifestyles today?
Bring a piece of paper, your phone camera and be prepared to co-create something together in the autonomous zone of post-Olympic Hackney Wick & Fish Island.
Event involves:
1.15 hr interactive walk which ends at Grow, Hackney
A healthy and nutritious vegan/veggie meal eaten together where Simon Cole will be joining you so you can follow up with questions to him and others at the event, including the Grow Team
