Line Up
Tommy Khosla and Jawari
Contemporary sitarist Tommy Khosla and their band Jawari will be presenting their first set of the year. This four piece band features Tommy Khosla on sitar and synth, Gregorio Merchán on percussion and Taylor Frost on bass, cello and electric guitar. Inspired by both Neo and Indo-Jazz, the band is venturing into new expressions of the sitar - informed by jazz, bossa nova, psychedelic sounds and electronics. .
kantigas
kantigas are a 3 piece collective (vocals, guitar, double bass) bringing to life Sephardi Ladino songs, with influences of Flamenco, Turkish, North African and Middle Eastern music. With a set of upbeat songs and romantic ballads arranged for voice, guitar and double bass, we are taking listeners on a journey across centuries of Jewish Mediterranean & Middle Eastern folk music, mixing different languages, cultures and styles like the stories of love, life and exile they tell.
Their combined musical backgrounds add a unique energy to their performance and collaboration - Stuart in classical and African music, George in jazz and Middle Eastern music, and Carina in classical, folk and jazz.
