GROW’S EVENT CALENDAR
Grow is independent and grassroots with international impact. Local and emerging artists are programmed alongside international artists.
Since GROW opened our doors in 2014, we’ve hosted 250+ events each year and had over 150,000 people through our doors.
Young musicians have jammed with Abass Dodoo (Ginger Baker band), Japanese contemporary dancers and indigenous didgeridoo masters from Australia, to name just a few. Our artist partners credit the collaborations, regularity of exposure and payments as helping them hone their craft. Those for come to Grow for the entertainment, food and drink experience a span of genres and together we celebrate diverse culture from around the globe to down the road.

COMING UP AT GROW

GINA SOUTHGATE MEZZANINE GALLERY LAUNCH
Join us on Thursday 7 September 5-7pm for the launch of artist Gina Southgate’s residency on Grow’s mezzanine gallery in Hackney Wick. Gina will be showing carefully selected paintings from her prolific body of work. This exhibition launch is combined with our weekly jazz jam which starts at 7.30pm so you can view work, meet Gina and then enjoy jazz from some of London’s most upcoming musicians.
Gina is well known on the London free music and jazz scene where she’s painted and/or performed live at gigs for 30 years. She had her first solo exhibition of gig paintings at London’s Jazz café in 1988.
She tries to capture the energy and essence of the gig in the real time. Sometimes she works solely with sound and ignores the visual content producing abstract imagery. In performance situations she uses her materials and surfaces sonically.
Our Jazz night with Stratos will kick off shortly after the exhibition. To reserve a table and for more info, click below.
This event is part of our participation in this year’s Open House event:
Join us for Open House Festival 2023 and help celebrate London’s housing, architecture and neighbourhoods. Each year, we join the festival to explore Grow’s history, heritage and contemporary context.
This year, we’ll be marking our inclusion in the festival at events on Thurs 7, Friday 8 and Open Studios and afterparty on Saturday 9 September. See blog for more information.
