Grow is more than a music venue. It’s a canalside bar, kitchen and garden terrace where grassroots culture comes alive. Expect an eclectic mix of live music and DJS spanning global sounds, jazz, soul, and beyond, with a focus on independent artists and community-led events. DeepDig Summer Special arrives at Grow Hackney with an unmissable evening of underground grooves: join us as Tim Garcia digs deep for 4 hours and experience the live Afro-Latin energy of Tumabito’s performance.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Tim Garcia headlines this DeepDig Summer Special with an extended four-hour journey through the deepest corners of house, broken beat, jazz, Latin and Afro-centric sounds. As a Rinse FM resident, former host on Jazz FM and Worldwide FM, and founder of the Musica Macondo label, Tim’s sets are renowned for their impeccable flow, rare edits and globe-spanning influences. Expect a masterclass in seamless genre-blending that carries you from sunset into the small hours.
Joining Tim’s voyage is Tumabito, Williams Cumberbache’s dynamic Afro-Latin ensemble. They bring live percussion, jazz improvisation and Latin grooves together in a performance that amplifies the very records that inspire our DJs—turning studio magic into a visceral, communal experience.
Warm-up duties fall to Vandorta, whose deep vinyl knowledge and passion for funk, broken beat and global grooves have earned her residencies at Sounds of the Universe, radio shows in Amsterdam and festival slots from London to Tokyo. Her selections set the tone, weaving history and innovation into a thrilling prelude.
This is more than a club night: it’s a summer celebration of live and electronic music, rooted in grassroots culture and carried by forward-thinking sounds.

ABOUT DEEPDIG
DeepDig is a night curated by Grow, that brings some of our favourite DJs and producers to play the sets that they don’t usually get to play at bigger venues and festivals. Expect lengthy, no-holds-barred DJ sets in intimate settings, where they have free reign to take the crowd in whatever direction they like. There is no seating for the performance but you can book tables up until 8pm in other areas of the venue to enjoy food and drink and still enjoy the event in the main area. If you don’t book in advance, arriving early is recommended as tables are on a first-come-first-served basis.

Shedding Histories are back at Grow and ready to host another unique journey through the eclectic and underground, with their dynamic blend of global psych, funk, jazz and reggae.
In this edition they will be joined by esteemed DJs and label founders Tim Garcia (Musica Macondo) and Chris Menist (Paradise Bangkok).
Tim Garcia is a DJ, Broadcaster and record Label Owner. His passion for sharing music saw him hold down a 5 year weekly residency on national radio station Jazz FM, followed by a show on Worldwide FM and most recently a weekly show on Rinse FM. With his label Musica Macondo he's put out a broad range of music from artists from Latin America, Africa, North America and Europe. Releasing music from Grammy nominated musicians and some of the best producers in the world of electronic music like Quantic, K15 and Osunlade. Behind the decks he has become known for his wide-reaching and broad taste, spanning Latin, Jazz, Hip Hop, House and Brazilian sounds.
Chris Menist is a writer, DJ and musician best known as the co-founder of the Paradise Bangkok label and band, alongside DJ Maft Sai. He co-curated the 'Sounds of Wonder' series with the Finders Keepers label, as well as the 'Sound of Siam' (Soundway) and 'Thai? Dai!' (Finders Keepers). He has additionally worked on compilations with Dust To Digital and Strut and records & performs as Awkward Corners.
Currently based in the UK, he hosts the monthly ‘Paradise Bangkok’ show on NTS and his DJ sets encompass a broad mix of reggae, soul, african, latin and asian sounds from across the globe.
Both Tim and Chris will be joined by Shedding Histories founders and residents Bena & Chameleonas, so make sure to join for what promises to be a magical evening of music and dance!

Queen's Yard Summer Party is back, for another year of dancing in our beloved Hackney Wick to break the summer in style! As the new flats spring up and the landscape of the Wick changes, we keep finding new nooks and crannies to pop up dancing spaces in. Who knows how long we'll be able to continue? But for now we'll dance till the sun sets on Hackney Wick.

Our Spice Trail Menu is predominantly plant based, with some ethically sourced meat options, as part of our conscious drive towards sustainability. Our passion is for the cooking of the Middle East and southern Mediterranean so expect punchy flavours, warm spices and as always the best ingredients we can find to comfort and nourish the soul.
With our drinks, we partner with breweries St Austell and Signature Brew for our lagers and IPAs and serve organic wine and prosecco which help international wildlife charity, Born Free. We design our spin on such drinks as Rum Punch, homemade Hackney Spiced Rum, Vegan White Russian and Espresso Martini.
