LIVE JAZZ SPECIAL W/ MADDY COOMBS // JAZZ JAM

  • Grow 98c Wallis Road London, England, E9 5LN United Kingdom (map)

Jazz in back outside for another special where the band invite a talented guest and August 31 is set to be truly exceptional as we welcome Maddy Coombs, a saxophonist that has played with Shabaka Hutchings & Olivia Dean to join Stratos on stage for the night!

Maddy is a tenor saxophone player based in London that came through the iconic Youth Jazz programme, Tomorrow’s Warriors.

Every Thursday for more than 7 years our house jazz band Stratos, led by the Mercury Prize nominated Rio Kai, have taken us on a voyage through classic, straight ahead, hard bop & Jazz fusion! Stratos features Rio Kai, Jamie Murray & Dom Pusey.

After the first set they open up the jam to jazz musicians who want to get involved! Contact @stratostheband on Instagram if you’re interested in jamming. It’s free entry for jammers.

The first performance of the evening will be outside, and the band will move inside for the second set.

BOOKINGS

  • During the summer months the band play the first set outdoors (weather pending) on the canalside garden terrace from approx 7.30 - 8.30pm.

  • Outdoor tables are available to prebook via the Opentable widget (£6pp guarantees you a good view of the first set.) You can book tables between 6.45 and 7.45pm.

  • The second set is inside the venue and is approx 9.30-10.30pm. Indoor seating is available on a first come first serve basis. There is standing room.

  • You can pay on the door (£5pp)

  • We reserve 60% of our tables for walk ups so still feel free to come down and grab a spot. We advise that you arrive between 6.30 and 7.30pm to get a table.

  • Our kitchen is open until 10pm and serves a range of dishes and snacks. We have a range of drinks from the bar (open until 11.45pm) including Grow’s signature cocktails.

  • Please read the ‘Things to know’ below before you book or come as a walk-in

‘THINGS TO KNOW’ BEFORE YOU BOOK/COME AS WALK IN

  • If you’ve booked a table via the Opentable Wigit, we recommend you turn up on time (before 7.30pm) to ensure you enjoy the first set as once the band go inside for the second you will not have a table reserved (though you can continue to use your table outside until the garden terrace closes to eat and drink)

  • We reserve the right to move the first set inside the venue if the weather is not appropriate for an outdoor performance. We will do our best to seat you indoors but it may not be possible in all cases. If you want to eat/drink outside we have tables with cover and then can come inside later.

  • We will only move the jazz indoors if absolutely necessary, so please do bring weather appropriate clothes.

  • Please read our full FAQs before booking, where you will find information on refunds and exchanges
