24 May 2021

Reimagined for 2021, our eco-conscious afternoon market in Main Yard, Hackney Wick returns on Sat 5 June, 1-8pm to challenge the status quo through conscious consumerism & explore a future founded on self-sustainability, cultural, social, wellbeing and equality.

The Future Fair also celebrates a self-organising culture and the local creative talent of Grow Studios and Grow’s wider networks.

Expect hand-made prints, bespoke and organic clothing; independent art, eco products, plants & microgreens.  Enjoy live marimba music from Southern African act, Otto & the Mutapa Calling (also performing in Grow later that evening) & an outdoor bar selling Grow’s selected and signature drinks & food.  All necessary Covid-19 secure measures will be in place.

Surrounded by recently built planters with aromatic herbs and upcycled furniture made at workshops hosted by female collective ‘No Time to Waste’, the yard is the central point of Grow’s ecosystem which is a creative home to over fifty artists, practitioners and independent businesses ranging from carnival costumiers, blacksmiths, fine artists, bike makers, a kombucha brewer and the venue itself.  Many of these artists have contributed to Grow’s design and build, including graffiti writers and mural artists; blacksmiths and eco-builders, all of whose work can be seen throughout the venue, canalside garden terrace and yard.

Hackney Tours (Simon Cole) is also running a special edition of the Hackney Wick Culture Jam walking tour culminating at Grow’s Future Fair. Simon is also Grow’s first Writer in Residence and will be based there from 1 June. Book your spot on the tour at hackneytours.com

We have very limited space at the Future Fair but if you would like to pitch us an idea for a stall at future markets then please send a bit about what you plan to do with a weblink to corazon@growhackney.co.uk

Future dates: July 3 / July 31 / Sep 4 / Oct 2
